The Annemarie-Schimmel-Haus German Cultural Centre Lahore is pleased to participate in the Lahore Literary Festival 2026, taking place from February 6–8, 2026.
This year, we are delighted to welcome two distinguished German writers from Berlin — David Wagner and Rainer Merkel — as part of our literary engagement at LLF.
David Wagner is an acclaimed Berlin-based author, widely known for his bestselling novel Leben (Life), which explores themes of illness, identity, and survival. His other notable works include My Night-Blue Trousers and Four Apples. Wagner’s writing is celebrated for its depth, sensitivity, and literary precision.
Rainer Merkel is a respected German writer and literary voice whose work spans fiction, essays, and literary criticism. His writing reflects strong intellectual engagement with contemporary social and cultural themes, making him a significant contributor to modern German literature.
In addition to their appearances at the Lahore Literary Festival, both authors will conduct creative writing workshops at the Annemarie-Schimmel-Haus. They will also visit literature departments of selected universities during their stay, fostering literary exchange and dialogue with students, faculty members, and emerging writers.
The participation of Annemarie-Schimmel-Haus at LLF 2026 reflects our continued commitment to promoting German literature, cultural dialogue, and meaningful literary exchange between Germany and Pakistan.
We look forward to welcoming literature enthusiasts, students, and readers to join us at the Lahore Literary Festival 2026.
