Annemarie-Schimmel-Haus

German Cultural Centre Lahore

A well-known travel guide describes Germany as the place where “Medieval meets Modernity’’… obviously many people are intrigued enough to find out more as it is one of the Top 10 most visited countries in the world. It is situated right in the heart of Europe – is home to the biggest economy of the continent, has more inhabitance then elsewhere in Europe and is more diverse and multicultural than old stereotypes suggest.

If you hail from the Punjab, your first stop en route to Germany should be the Annemarie-Schimmel-Haus in the heart of Lahore.

We offer German language classes for students, for people looking to live and work in Germany or for those who simply want to enjoy this language spoken by close to a 100 million people in the world. We also organise cultural events and theatre performances on a regular basis, trying to bring Germany and Pakistan a little closer to each other by a bilateral cultural dialogue.

The Annemarie-Schimmel-Haus, is a cooperation partner of the Goethe-Institut Pakistan and the German cultural centre in Lahore. Our main purpose is the promotion of a bilateral dialogue between Pakistan and Germany through an extensive German language programme as well as through cultural events which we organise on a regular basis in the fields of theatre, music, fine arts, film and literature. The Annemarie-Schimmel-Haus has been sharing its premises with the Alliance Française (French Centre) since 2005. If you are interested in receiving invites and info on our cultural events, kindly contact at programme@schimmel.com.pk
