Terms and Conditions
1. General Requirement
Course participants must be at least 14 years of age for our regular courses. Children courses are organised separately. If the participant is a minor (less than 18 years), a written permission slip is required by his/her parent/guardian.
1.1 A person who wants to register in a beginner’s course should be at least middle qualified (8th standard).
2. Terms of Payment
If full payment is not received by the due date, the participant loses the right to participate. Course and examination registration is conducted on a “First come First served” basis.
3. Course fees
The contractually binding fee is the fee stated in the price list current at the time of application.
4. Cancellation and refunds
4.1 The following conditions apply if the course participant is unable to take part in the course: In case of cancellation up to three working days prior to the start of the course, ASH will withhold 50% of the course fee. In case of cancellation or withdrawal after the course starts, no refunds and or credit notes for future courses can be issued, regardless of whether or not the student has begun attending the course.
4.2 Cancellations must be submitted in writing.
4.3 The course fee is not refundable and non-transferable after commencement of classes.
5. Courses (online & on-campus)
5.1. Placement in advanced course levels is based on a placement test.
5.2. Our courses have at least 12 and at the most 24 participants. If enrolments are insufficient on the starting date, we reserve the right to cancel or postpone the course. In this case we will offer the participants the opportunity to move to another course or to receive a full refund of the course fee. We regret that we can only conduct courses that have the minimum number of participants by the end of the enrolment period. To avoid cancellations of courses that would have taken place if participants had enrolled in time, we advise students to register before the deadline.
5.3. For on-campus classes as well, the candidate must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. It is advisable for everyone’s safety, including yours. In the event that the government asks us to close due to health reasons, we will immediately shift on-campus classes to online classes via the Zoom app. No refund will be given.
5.4. You require a strong internet connection for our online classes as it is mandatory for all students to switch on their cameras throughout the course. The instructors will not allow any student who switches off the mics and the camera and will remove him/her from that day’s class.
6. Responsibilities of participants
The participants are obliged to comply with the house rules and regulations of ASH.
7. Liability of the Annemarie-Schimmel-Haus
The liability of ASH and its staff is limited to intent and gross negligence. ASH also accepts no liability for the cancellation of its services due to force majeur (e.g. natural disasters, fire, floods, war, official orders, security issues and all other circumstances beyond the control of the contractual parties).
8. Concession in course/examination fee
ASH does not give any kind of concession in the course and examination fee.
9. Participation certificate
At the end of the language course, a course participation certificate can be issued upon request (provided the attendance of the student is above 80%).
10. Rules of conduct
10.1. The students are allowed to enter in the institute premises 15 minutes prior to their scheduled class timing.
10.2. The students are not allowed to sit inside the classrooms after the class has finished.
10.3. The students are only allowed to sit in the class during the lecture. Facilities to study have been provided inside our library, the study room and the garden.
11. Examination Requirements:
11.1. The exam fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.
11.2. The exam fee for internal students is applicable on the first attempt only. After the first attempt, you will be considered as an external student and other fee conditions apply.
11.3. An official examination certificate will be awarded by the Goethe-Institut Pakistan to those students who have passed their exams. The certificate will be sent approx. 2 weeks after the exams and the spelling of the participant’s details will be according to the spelling mentioned on the passport copy.
11.4. Exam candidates who failed in their exam will be issued a failure certificate from the Goethe-Institut upon request.
11.5. The result will be announced by the Goethe-Institut Pakistan on their website. www.goethe.de/Karachi
11.6. Mobile phones and jewelry is not allowed during the exam neither are visitors or persons accompanying the candidates allowed inside the premises.
11.7. Candidates are requested to write the exact/ complete Name, Date of Birth and Place of Birth according to their passport. Later on, NO changes shall be possible under any circumstances.
11.8. Candidates are requested to provide their correct/ reachable contact numbers on the registration form.
11.9. On the day of examination, candidates are requested to bring their original passport and original CNIC along. Candidates would not be allowed to sit in the exam without the original documents.
11.10. On the day of examination, Afghan citizens’ / candidates are requested to bring their original passport and original English tazkara along. Candidates would not be allowed to sit in the exam without the original documents.
11.11. W.e.f. January 1, 2020. all exam participants have to appear themselves for collecting their GI exam certificates. The timings for the certificate collection are 9 am to 1 pm ONLY on weekdays.
11.12. Please ensure that the candidate gets both the COVID-19 vaccination shots before the examination. Proof of vaccination (Vaccine certificate) must be shown at the time of exam registration.
12. House Rules of ASH:
12.1. Weapons are not allowed inside the premises.
2.2.The ASH is not responsible for your personal belongings. In case of loss or theft, we do not take any sort of responsibility or liability.
12.3. A thorough security check of both male and female visitors/students/exam candidates is compulsory.
12.4. The ASH is not responsible for parking facilities and for your vehicle.
12.5. Visitors are not allowed to wait for students/exam candidates inside the institute ‘s premises. Students have to be dropped off at the gate and picked up after the class time is over.
12.6. Smoking is not allowed inside the institute’s premises.
12.7. Taking pictures or making videos is not allowed inside the institute’s premises.
13. Accommodation:
The ASH does not provide nor recommend any sort of accommodation facilities and is not associated with any hostel or private provider of accommodation.
